A Chat with GPT-4: GPT-4 is Smart Enough Not to Spoil
Can GPT-4 be trusted not to spoil the story of Demon Slayer?
Human Alert: Actual Major Spoiler Alert in this post about a major character in the anime Demon Slayer, proceed at your own risk!
I was playing around with GPT-4 and got an interesting response back from a question about a character in Demon Slayer. The model seemed aware that the anime is pretty far behind the manga (finished serialization). It led to a pretty funny interaction.
Takeaway: If you want to build a fiction Q/A bot, perhaps tell it in a system
message where you are in the story, so it does not spoil you.

who is shinobu in demon slayer
GPT:
Shinobu Kocho is a character in the popular manga and anime series "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba." She is a Demon Slayer and the Insect Hashira, one of the highest-ranking members of the Demon Slayer Corps. Shinobu has a calm demeanor, always sporting an enigmatic smile. Despite her delicate appearance, she is skilled with poison that enables her to fight demons effectively. Her swordsmanship style incorporates insect-like movements, making it difficult for opponents to predict her attacks.
Bram:
how does she die
GPT:
In the "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" manga, Shinobu Kocho dies during the battle against Upper Rank Two demon, Doma. Knowing that her sword strikes aren't strong enough to defeat him, she attempts a sacrificial tactic by letting Doma consume her. Her body is infused with deadly wisteria poison called Wisteria Flash Dance in an attempt to weaken and kill him from within. While her plan does not eliminate Doma directly, it weakens him enough for other Demon Slayers like Kanao Tsuyuri and Inosuke Hashibira to eventually finish the job.
Please note that this event occurs only in the manga as of now; it hasn't been depicted in the anime yet.
Bram:
thanks for the spoiler alert! (sarcasm)
GPT:
I apologize for not providing a spoiler warning before revealing the information. I understand how important it is to maintain suspense while enjoying a series, and I'm sorry for any inconvenience my response may have caused. In the future, if you have questions about ongoing series or content that could potentially contain spoilers, please let me know so that I can provide an appropriate warning.
Conversation 2
For this conversation, I warned GPT beforehand to not give me any spoilers and got a much different result.

who is shinobu in demon slayer (note: no spoilers, ive only seen the anime)
GPT:
Shinobu Kocho is a character in the popular anime and manga series "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba." She is a Demon Slayer and serves as one of the Hashira, specifically, she holds the title of Insect Hashira. Shinobu has a calm and friendly demeanor but possesses deadly skills with her unique insect-inspired combat style. She plays a crucial role in training and guiding the main protagonist, Tanjiro Kamado, along with other fellow Demon Slayers throughout their journey to battle demons.
Bram:
what happens to her in the manga? (remember: no spoilers!)
GPT:
I understand that you do not want any spoilers, so I will refrain from providing specific details about Shinobu's journey in the manga. Just like in the anime, she continues to play an important role with her fellow Demon Slayers as they face various challenges and adversaries throughout their quest. If you decide to read the manga or watch future installments of the anime adaptation, you will be able to see how her story unfolds.
